In 2023 we decided to go back to one of the most beautifull dive locations in the world: Raja Ampat.
During our trip in 2017 we had such a great experiance that we just had to come back to this amazing place.
Due to the very positive experience with Papua diving and the Kri Eco resort, we decided to go back to Kri Island.
Raja Ampat is world renowned for its rich marine biodiversity and stunning underwater landscapes: vibrant coral reefs, diverse marine life, and crystal-clear waters. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced diver, Raja Ampat offers a range of dive sites suitable for all levels.

During our BrotherDive trip to Palau in 2022, we met an American diver Brett Eldridge. Together with Brett we dived the wreck of the Aichi E13A (aka ‘Jake’) Seaplane.
Brett is an enthusiastic wreck divers and experienced in making photogrammetry models.
He shot hundreds of photos of the wreck during our dive.

Palau, one of those places we had to come back to.
Ever since our Brotherdive in 2015 we always told eachother that we should go back to Palau. Just because the diving in Palau is so amazing, and we had the feeling that we haven’t seen it all…
Divers come to Palau for the amazing dive sites that have made Palau world famous. Palau is considered one of the world’s premier dive destinations, with dozens of dive sites in a rare variety: walls with fascinating coral formations, reef corners where the currents attract sharks, rays and schooling fish, channels and other sandy bottom sites, tunnels, holes, caves and caverns, and plenty of WWII freighter and plane wrecks! From macro to mantas, Palau has it all!

Brotherdive 2021 - The Brother islands - Daedalus reef - Elphinstone reef
A photo impression of scuba diving during our 6 day liveaboard on the Red Sea Aggressor III. This footage was shot over 21 dives on the 27th of November till the 3rd of December 2021.
Brothers – Daedalus – Elphinstone, these three hotspots are often referred to by ‘BDE’.
Offering deep walls, spectacular drop-offs, and even a couple of wrecks, these three off-shore reefs are home to some incredible pelagic action.
This unique experience allows divers to witness the beauty and diversity of marine life in the Red Sea.
Is is also one of the best places to go if you want to see the oceanic white tip shark (Longimanos)

Brotherdive 2019 - Tubbataha reefs - Philippines
A photo impression of scuba diving during our 6 days stay onboard of the Infinti on the Tubbataha reefs in the Sulu Sea in the Philippines.
One of the best dive destinations in the world, the remote Tubbataha park encompasses over 100,000 hectares of protected reefs, a unique and pristine haven for marine life at the heart of the coral triangle. Home to healthy populations of sharks, rays, schooling fish and turtles, and accessible only by liveaboard for just a few months a year.
This footage was shot over 17 dives on the Tubbataha reefs and the Jessie Beazley Reef on the 17th till the 22nd of March 2019.
Unfortunately, due to bad weather conditions, we were not able to dive on all the sites we’ve hoped for…. Never the less, we made some amazing dives on Tubbataha!

Brotherdive 2019 - Coron - Palawan - Philippines
A photo impression of scuba diving during our 6 days stay in the El Rio Y mar resort in Coron (Palawan Philippines).
Famed for its history and clear tropical waters, diving in Busuanga and Coron offers one of the world’s best wreck-diving experiences. The area is home to a fleet of well-preserved Japanese WWII shipwrecks, now covered in coral and teeming with marine life. Alongside wrecks, divers explore coral gardens, limestone walls, and freshwater thermoclines in Barracuda Lake. Encounters include groupers, barracuda, lionfish, turtles, and reef sharks.
Here you also have the rare opportunity to dive with the elusive and enchanting Dugong.
Located on the northwest coast of Busuanga Island, a protected area allows limited numbers of divers to experience the Dugong’s habitat under strict conservation guidelines.
This footage was shot over 12 dives around Coron on the 23rd till the 28th of March 2019.

Brotherdive 2018 - Nabucco Island - Borneo - Indonesia
A photo impression of scuba diving with Extra Divers around Nabucco Island.
Nabucco Island, a real piece of paradise located within the Maratua Atoll (Borneo – Indonesia). This footage was shot over 30 dives in 9 days around the Maratua Atoll, Kakaban Island and Sangalaki Island.
The Maratua Atoll is located in the Celebes Sea, and contains one of the most beautiful underwater habitats in the world.
The dive sites are captivating due to their biodiversity and the nutrient rich currents coming from the Pacific Ocean.
Some of the highlights are “The Channel”, also known as “Big Fish Country”, Sangalaki; World famous for it’s Mantas and Kakaban famous for it’s great wall dives and it’s Jelly Fish lake.

Brotherdive 2017 Raja Ampat – West Papua (Indonesia)
A photo impression of scuba diving with Papua diving center in the beautiful waters around Kri island (Raja Ampat) in March 2017.
Raja Ampat, or the Four Kings, is an archipelago comprising over 1,500 small isles and it is a part of the newly named West Papua Province of Indonesia which was formerly Irian Jaya.
Raja Ampat diving offers some of the best diving in the world.
It is the world’s most bio-diverse marine region with more recorded fish, coral and mollusk species than anywhere else on the planet.
Our ‘home base’ was Kri Island which is located in the Dampier Strait. There are more than 30 sites in closest proximity of the Island. One of the well known divesites is ‘Cape Kri’, this is the Papua Diving house reef on Kri. This is the dive site that put Raja Ampat on the map when Dr Gerry Allen smashed his record for total number of fish species on a single tank dive: 374 different species!

While Edwin was on a scuba diving holiday in October on Bali, Marcel decided to join his brother to celebrate Edwin’s birthday…….. This surprise resulted in a 3 day (micro) Brotherdive on Nusa Penida !!
Diving around Nusa Penida is just fantastic! It offers incredible dive sites where you have great chances to see the famous and rare Mola Mola also called Oceanic Sunfish. The best place to see the Mola Mola is the dive site Crystal Bay. However the current can be strong and tricky therefore it’s not always possible to dive there.
One of the most famous dive sites around Nusa Penida is ‘Manta Point’ where numerous manta rays come all year round to enjoy the cleaning station.

Brotherdive 2016 - Playa del Carmen (Mexico)
These photos are made on various dive locations on Playa del Carmen, Cozumel and Puerto Morelos. They give you a good idea of the beauty of diving in the Mexican Caribbean!
From the C-56 wreck on Puerto Morelos , till the beautiful deep / wall dives on Cozumel and the spectacular drift dives along the coast of Playa del Carmen.
With a visibility of more than 40 meters is Cozumel a diver’s paradise.
The reef in Cozumel is full of attractions that have survived and overcame nature’s dashing. It’s walls goes down to until they get lost in the deep blue and are so full of life, that one dive it’s not enough to completely admire them.

Brotherdive 2016 - Yucatan Cenotes diving (Mexico)
“Cenotes” – The Mayan entrance to the underworld
Another set of Mexico, these pictures are taken in various cenotes in the Playa del Carmen area in Mexico (Riviera Maya). They show you the mysterious cave systems underneath the surface of Yucatan, known as the longest underwater cave system in the world. To the ancient Maya, cenotes were passageways to the underground world of Xibalba.
The Yucatan Peninsula is formed, completely, of limestone; its porous nature let the rain go through, creating caverns along the time. Those caverns were forming stalactites and stalagmites (some of them are immense). After the last Ice Age, the deepest caverns were flooded by water coming from thawing and became the way to enter the caverns.

Palau offers world-class diving with sea walls, sheer drop-offs, caves and an exuberance of marine life. Palau (or Belau) is a 100-mile long archipelago, southeast of the Philippines. Lots of divers visit Palau each year, most of them specifically to dive with sharks.
Divers come to Palau for the amazing dive sites that have made Palau world famous. Palau is considered one of the world’s premier dive destinations, with dozens of dive sites in a rare variety: walls with fascinating coral formations, reef corners where the currents attract sharks, rays and schooling fish, channels and other sandy bottom sites, tunnels, holes, caves and caverns, and plenty of WWII freighter and plane wrecks! From macro to mantas, Palau has it all!
Dive locations as Blue Corner, German Channel and blue holes are deservedly world famous.

(Micro) Brotherdive 2014 - Hurghada (Egypt)
Due to private circumstances it was not possible to plan a official Brotherdive in 2014.
However we’ve managed to dive a couple of days together during one of our family holidays in the Red Sea around Hurghada. With only four common dives we label this as being a ‘Micro Brother Dive’.
The Red Sea is home to amazing Reefs with a teeming marine life, pelagic fishes, Reef Sharks, turtles and Dolphins. The Red Sea Reef stretches over 2250 km along the coast of Egypt, Sudan, and Eritrea. There are more than 1,100 species of fish that call this Red Sea Reef ‘home’. It also has a variety of 200 soft and hard corals!
The Red sea is, after the Great Barrier Reef, the second largest coral reef system in the world
Like Jacques Yves Cousteau once said: “The Red sea is amazing, I’ve experienced my best dives here”

BrotherDive 2013 - Mabul (Sipadan - Malaysia)
The second part of our trip, The Kapalai resort.
Kapalai is the third point of the famous ‘Golden Triangle’, with Sipadan and Mabul being the other two. Kapalai is not a true island but a sandbar on which they build a resort on. Kapalai is, like Mabul, also a 20 minutes boatride from Sipadan.
While the resort was originally built for it’s proximity to world-famous Sipadan, we also discovered the paradise that awaited just beneath the resort.
Kapalai is undoubtedly one of the premiere macro dive sites in the world !

BrotherDive 2013 - Kapalai (Sipadan - Malaysia)
The first part of our trip, Mabul Island.
The triangle between Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines is one of the most bio-diverse marine habitats in the world. Strong ocean currents, deep sea trenches and sea mounts, combined with active volcanic islands have created a complex oceanographic environment that is paradise for divers. The beauty of this region lies in it’s diversity.
Mabul, just a twenty minute boat ride from Sipadan
The highlight of this trip is the world-famous Sipadan Island, home to thousands of turtles, schooling sharks, swirling barracuda, and awe-inspiring coral walls dropping more than 600m straight down to the sea floor.

The Lembeh strait – Critters paradise
Diving in Lembeh is like jumping into a world of tiny strange and weird creatures. Lembeh Strait is known as the “muck diving” capital of the world.
The Lembeh Strait is one of the few places in the world where you will see the exclusive hairy frog fish, pygmy sea horses, rare species of Nudibranchs, the thorny seahorse, mimic octopus, wunderpus and flamboyant cuttlefish to name a few. (And we saw them all !!)
Lembeh is only a couple of hours from Bunaken (Boat & car), it’s worth to combine a trip like we did!

BrotherDive 2012 - Bunaken (Sulawesie - Indonesia)
Bunaken is a small tropical island approximately 15 km from Manado on the mainland of North Sulawesi. Scuba diving around the Bunaken islands is terrific. The entire area is protected via the ‘Bunaken Marine Park’. (over 70.000 hectares)
The waters around the park are as deep as 1600 meters which gives you the opportunity to experience some of the best wall diving experiences in the world! (Bunaken was voted the best wall-diving in Asia). Visibility can go to 50 meters !
With over 390 species of coral and numerous species of fish it’s a true diving paradise.

Our first ‘BrotherDive’
It all started with this holiday…..
The 26 atolls (ring-shaped reefs) in the Maldives are home to 1192 islands
Located on the Southeast corner of Ari atoll, Vilamendhoo island lies in the heart of some of the most thrilling dive sites in the Maldives.
White beaches, palm studded gardens, tropical lush vegetation and turquoise blue lagoons surrounds the only 900 x 250 meter Island on all sides.
The island is a total dream for diving addicts, with over 50 dive sites and a fantastic house reef with 10 entry points, Vilamendhoo is the perfect diver’s paradise.
All different kind of reef sharks (white tips, black tips, greys, silver tips, leopard and nurse sharks) and rays (black spotted, eagle rays, torpedo rays, feather tail and guitar rays) as well as Mantas and whale shark are seen frequently on the different trips or even on the house reef !!
